Utilizing as the primary text chapters 24 and 25 of Matthew’s Gospel, The Olivet Discourse Commentary is more like a study than a commentary in the traditional sense, focusing on and accurately defining the foundational teaching surrounding the Second Coming of Christ from a Pre-Wrath theological position. The study necessarily includes detailed commentary on critical passages that compliment, supplement and augment what Christ establishes in the Olivet Discourse. Major passages found in 1 Corinthians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians, 1 & 2 Peter and Revelation are demonstrated to be dependent upon and harmonious with the outline of end-time events and characteristics laid out by Christ in the Olivet Discourse.
Readers can expect to gain refreshingly new and honest insight into major end-time prophetic issues such as: Daniel’s 70th week of years (7 years of tribulation), the “rapture”, the Second Coming of Christ (the PAROUSIA), the Abomination of Desolation, Antichrist (the Beast), the Great Tribulation, the Day of the Lord, Armageddon, the Millennial Kingdom and others. Much of the study incorporates verse by verse exegesis with analysis of many Greek words allowing the reader to discover the marvelous tapestry of God’s Word unfold and pieces of the “prophetic puzzle” fall into place without forcing them to fit where certain teachers WANT them to fit- thereby eliminating the difficulties of “problem passages”.
The work is based on the teaching series presented by K. Allen Orr. The reader can learn more about Mr. Orr in the separate section, About the Author, the Story Behind the Commentary.
